Dallas Mavericks big man Marvin Bagley III has signed a one-year free agency contract with the Denver Nuggets, as reported late Wednesday evening by ESPN's Shams Charania.
Bagley, who joined the Mavs as part of the Anthony Davis trade package from the Washington Wizards in February, played 22 games for Dallas (four starts) and averaged 11.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in just over 21 minutes per game.
The move comes as Dallas has accumulated a surplus of frontcourt players, notably No. 9 pick Morez Johnson Jr. and trade acquisition Santi Aldama.
More big men could be on their way out, too.

For Bagley, he was an immediate boost in depth for a Mavs squad that needed the size as star rookie Cooper Flagg was feeling out his ideal position, and Dereck Lively II was out for the majority of the season with foot injury complications. Center Daniel Gafford also hobbled through knee issues for much of the year, making Bagley's springs and energy a welcome sight.
Bagley scored in double digits in five of his first seven games with the Mavericks this past season. His overall season-high came after the move to Dallas when he scored 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting in a win at the Portland Trail Blazers on March 27.
The 6-11 big man scored 20 points twice more: back-to-back outings on April 7 and 8, where Bagley posted 21 and 20 points, respectively, on identical 8-for-11 marks from the field in each game.
He hopes to bring that production to Denver as he joins forces with Nikola Jokic and a Nuggets squad that was searching for frontcourt help ahead of what could be one of the franchise's last realistic chances at competing for a title in the Jokic era.

For the Mavs, reserve forward/center Dwight Powell is also a free agent who could be on the outside looking in to this new-look Mavs roster, which might lead to a free agency move.
Powell is the team's longest-tenured player and ranks near the top in several Mavs career statistics. He's a fan favorite on the internet and would represent a lamented, yet expected departure. Dallas missed the window to sign Powell, 34, to an extension.
Former two-way center Moussa Cisse is another frontcourt free agent, but is restricted and could be brought back to Dallas if the team matches a qualifying offer he accepts during free agency. The only update we have on Cisse is that Dallas exercised his player option to return in 2026-27.
Dallas' other active free agents, both unrestricted, include veteran forward Khris Middleton and fifth-year guard Brandon Williams.
