Apr. 29—MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Mavericks soccer team fell 0-2 in their game against Davis on Friday evening.
"We started off super slow, didn't come with the tempo that we normally have been coming in with the last couple of games," said Mavs' coach Miguel Segura.
Davis had scored two by the end of the first half, putting the Mavs on the defensive in the second. They had picked up momentum in the second half but were unable to mount a comeback, said the coach.
"They came out from the first minute, they capitalized on the chances they got," said Segura. "That's what we need to come out and gain from this."
The Mavericks currently sit with an overall record of 7-7 and are 5-4 in league games after their loss Friday. They are currently looking to be tied for second place with Sunnyside, Davis and Eisenhower now also having 5-4 league records and Wenatchee is currently at the number one spot in the Big Nine with a league record of 7-1.
"We're just taking it little by little, we've been getting some injuries and knocks, so just have to adjust on the fly," said the coach. "We have to take care of our injuries to move forward and continue to have the same thing we've been having these last couple games."
The Mavs' final weeks of the season consist of two upcoming home games against Wenatchee and Eisenhower and end the season on the road against Eastmont.
"We just have to make sure we work hard and work on our formation," said Segura. "With our injuries, we move players around, so they have to adjust and it's a little hard for them, but that's what we need to do."
The Mavericks play at home against Wenatchee tonight at 6 p.m.
