Matt DiMarsico Signs Contract With Colorado Avalanche

On the one-year anniversary of his iconic overtime goal against UConn, Penn State forward Matt DiMarsico signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Colorado Avalanche on Monday:

DiMarsico scored a team-high 18 goals this season and finished his career as the 10th player in program history to reach 100 career points (42 goals, 58 assists). He scored the game-winning goal against UConn on March 30, 2025 to send Penn State to its first ever Frozen Four.

DiMarsico will report to the Colorado Eagles- the Avalanches’s AHL affiliate- for the rest of the 2025-26 season before his entry-level deal kicks in next season. He is the 14th player in program history to sign an NHL contract and the second to sign with Colorado, after Peyton Jones.

Make no mistake, his absence will be felt next season. He developed into a strong two-way forward and was consistently a force on the forecheck. Penn State has a great recruiting class coming in, but DiMarsico’s production will be hard to replace.
