Match Preview: Brentford Women v Eastbourne Borough in LSE Premier opener

Brentford Women’s London and South East Premier season gets under way on Sunday at Honeycroft against Eastbourne Borough (2pm kick-off BST).

Carly Williams’ side have enjoyed a busy pre-season campaign, but begin the new league season at their new home at Uxbridge Football Club’s Honeycroft.

The off-season brought with it a host of new signings for the Bees, with Abbi Smith, Ellie Thomas-Leek, Imogen Cochrane, Rhian Cleverly, Millie Constantine, Georgie Giddings and Mya Francis-Pownall each making the move to west London.

The club launched a girls' Academy in May and Honeycroft was established as the side’s new home, with fans enjoying the facilities at the 3,770 capacity stadium across pre-season.

Attention now turns to the league season as Williams’ side begin their quest for promotion.

Pre-season summary

Brentford have built strongly throughout the pre-season as they faced multiple teams that play in higher divisions in the football pyramid.

Wiktoria Kiszkis’s brace helped the Bees get off to a flying start with a 4-0 win over tier four side Ascot United at Jersey Road.

Summer recruit Smith got on the scoresheet as the west Londoners lost 4-1 to tier four outfit QPR at Honeycroft, before Kiszkis was back at it with a hat-trick at Jersey Road in a 5-0 victory over Reading.

Kiszkis was on target again as Brentford competed strongly against tier three side Lewes, eventually going down 2-1.

The pre-season rounded out with a 1-0 defeat away from home to tier four outfit Chatham Town.
