The 129th running of the Boston Marathon is set to feature idyllic conditions for runners and spectators alike, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures at or slightly above seasonal normals.

In Hopkinton, where the race begins, it was only about 32 as of 6 a.m. Monday. But temperatures should warm up throughout the day, reaching 47 by the time marathon festivities kick off at 9 a.m.

The race winds through Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newtown and Brookline before concluding in Boston. Temperatures along the route should remain below 60 for much of the day.

By the time runners reach the finish line in Boston, temperatures should have warmed to the mid-50s, reaching 56 by 2 p.m.

Temperatures between 45 and 59 are considered ideal for runners.

Light winds are expected to blow through the state, with conditions remaining dry for much of the day. Temperatures in the interior will be slightly warmer than along the coast, just above normal highs for late April.

Some cloud cover should develop Monday afternoon, with a low risk for spotty showers late in the day in the northwest part of the state.
