The Marquette men’s basketball team has landed the first member of its 2026 recruiting class.
Ethan Johnston, an athletic 6-foot-6 wing player from The Hill School near Philadelphia, announced his commitment to the Golden Eagles with a social-media post May 7.
The MU coaching staff made Johnston a recruiting target since offering him a scholarship in November. Coach Shaka Smart and all his assistants made trips to watch Johnston, and he came to Milwaukee for an official visit in late February.

Johnston, who also plays for the New York Rens on Nike’s highly competitive EYBL AAU circuit, had several offers from high-major schools, including Creighton, Maryland, Georgetown, Illinois and Seton Hall.
Johnston fits the mold of recent MU players such as Zaide Lowery and Damarius Owens, fluid athletes with good size and play-making ability but who are just scratching the surface of their talents.
MU will lose seniors Chase Ross and Ben Gold after next season.
