Soon-to-be former Notre Dame men’s basketball guard Markus Burton has played the last seven seasons of his career in South Bend, decided to move away and will enter the transfer portal.
It’s another tough blow for the Irish, as they’ve seen Jalen Haralson make the same decision along with three others. For Burton, you could tell the decision was difficult, and he went to social media to thank his home-town fans.
“South Bend will always be home to me and it’s been a blessing to be able to represent my city,” he said as he announced his decision. The often-injured guard has missed multiple games over the past two seasons, but when he was on the court, he was a star.
Replacing a player like Burton won’t be easy for head coach Micah Shrewsberry, but that is his current situation. There could be more players on the way out as well, as some rumors suggest that will be the case, and they were correct with this prediction. It could be another rebuilding year next season in South Bend.
