Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy is predicting a trading frenzy from general manager Brian Gutekunst during Day 2 and Day 3 of the 2025 NFL draft.

The Packers took Matthew Golden at No. 23 overall without trading up or down in the first round on Thursday night, but with only seven picks left to make, Gutekunst could move around the board to either target a player on Day 2 or move down to help accumulate picks. Murphy predicts the Packers doing a little of both.

"I predict we will trade up once and down twice," Murphy told Kay Adams of "Up & Adams" on Friday.

Murphy was just making a prediction, but it almost certainly comes from a place of some truth. Gutekunst has made at least 10 picks in each of the last three drafts, and the Packers making only eight picks this year (his current total) would represent his smallest draft class since 2019.

It's possible Murphy knows the Packers have a few highly rated players left on the board to start Day 2, and a move up from No. 54 is being discussed in Green Bay's draft room. And he almost certainly knows that Gutekunst wants to make more picks, so a trade down -- possibly down from No. 87 in the third round -- could provide extra ammo on Day 3.

Or maybe the Packers are willing to move down from No. 54 in the second round to add draft capital and then use some of it to move up in the third or fourth rounds, depending on who is available.

The Packers entertained the idea of moving down from No. 23 on Thursday night but ended up staying and taking Golden. If Murphy's prediction is right, the Packers will be doing plenty of moving around the board on Friday and Saturday.
