There has been a major hiccup in the Seattle Mariners organization with the injury of star pitcher Logan Gilbert.
Gilbert was placed on the 15-day injury list on Saturday after sustaining a right elbow flexor strain after throwing just 29 pitches against the Miami Marlins on Friday.
"I felt it a little bit warming up, just never really went away... I was talking to the trainer throughout, trying to stay loose. It didn't get a ton worse which is good," Gilbert told the media.
With the move to the injured list, it clears up another spot on the Mariners 40-man roster.
With the extra spot on the roster, Seattle will look to right-handed pitcher Logan Evans to fill the gap and make his MLB debut.
Evans is a 23-year-old prospect that was taken in the 12th round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
His time in Triple-A Tacoma has been short, appearing in five games this season for the Rainiers and has an ERA of 3.86, 1.25 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched.
Although the rookie's numbers aren't the most impressive, he will look to fill the starting pitching void that has been revealed after the injuries of All-Stars Logan Gilbert and George Kirby.
Evans will make his debut in the series finale against the Miami Marlins.
With the series tied, the rookie pitcher will be called on to help lead Seattle to a series-clinching win and maintain their spot atop the AL West.

Seattle Mariners call up No. 10 prospect Logan Evans

Logan Evans had only ever seen the #Mariners' home ballpark on TV or played at it in MLB The Show.
Now the club's No. 10 prospect will step between its white lines for his big league debut Sunday: https://t.co/0OSk2ZNaUcpic.twitter.com/6P66XqjwEg
