Manchester City have secured the signing of former academy goalkeeper Pierce Charles - and promptly loaned him out to EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers. The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Etihad but will spend the coming season in West London.
Charles, like his older brother Shea, progressed through City's academy system, but the shot-stopper departed at 16 to join Sheffield Wednesday.
Over the past two years, he has established himself in the lineup and caught the eye during what has been a turbulent period for the South Yorkshire team.

Having tracked his development, City have moved to bring him back with an initial fee of £3 million ($4.02 million) that could escalate to £10 million ($13.4 million) if specific benchmarks are achieved relating to future City success.
Northern Ireland international Charles will not link up with Enzo Maresca this season but has been earmarked as a player who could contribute down the line, as per the Manchester Evening News.
"To be back at Manchester City is a very special and proud moment both for me and my family. I know first-hand what a special club City is and I am so excited about looking to the future," said Charles.
"City take the development of young players very seriously so I know that my loan to QPR will only help me grow and improve as a player too. I'll now give everything I can for a successful season in the Championship before hopefully returning to Manchester a better goalkeeper."

Charles becomes the third summer arrival at City, following Mathys Detourbet and Elliot Anderson through the door, taking total expenditure beyond £140 million ($187.63 million).
Like Detourbet before him, Charles heads straight out on loan, and with Anderson still involved in the FIFA World Cup with England, it means no new signings will be present when pre-season training gets underway in ten days.
