Man United Add Lazio Midfielder to Their Shortlist
Lazio’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has reportedly landed on the shortlist of Manchester United, who are currently revamping their midfield.
Man Utd Undergoing Midfield Overhaul
The Red Devils have parted ways with Casemiro and placed Manuel Ugarte on the shortlist, leaving them with Kobbie Mainoo as the only recognised central midfielder guaranteed to play for Michael Carrick’s team next season.
The Premier League giants have practically acquired Ederson’s services after reaching an agreement with the Brazilian international as well as Atalanta, but they’re still eyeing another two signings in the middle of the park.
United Also Tracking Fisayo Dele-Bashiru
Sky Sports provided the latest on Man Utd’s midfield hunt. While the reliable British source mentioned the usual suspects (Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes, and Carlos Baleba), it also revealed the club’s interest in Dele-Bashiru, who is now on the watchlist.
The Nigerian international is all too familiar with English football, spending his formative years at Manchester City before joining Sheffield Wednesday in 2020. The Owls released the midfielder in 2023, and he went on to enjoy a memorable Turkish experience at Hatayspor, earning a move to Lazio in the summer of 2024 for circa €5 million.

United’s interest in Dele-Bashiru might surprise the Biancocelesti supporters, as the player never cemented himself as a regular starter in the Italian capital, whether in his first season under Marco Baroni, or his second campaign with Maurizio Sarri in charge. Both managers praised the Lagos native for his physical attributes, but urged him to improve his tactical awareness.
Dele-Bashiru still delivered occasional flashes of brilliance, especially when playing against Atalanta. Since joining Lazio, he has contributed with seven goals and four assists in 57 appearances.
Would Lazio Sell Dele-Bashiru
In recent days, it was revealed that club president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Angelo Fabiani have asked Gennaro Gattuso to help the Nigerian take his game to the next level. But faced with a tempting offer, the hierarchy is very likely to sell the midfielder whose contract will expire in June 2028, especially considering his secondary role at the club.
