INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has been charged with stalking Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday. This is the second time in the last year that a man has been charged with stalking a Fever player.

Kevin Singh, 49, was arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a news release. Singh allegedly sent Cunningham “multiple threatening and explicit messages,” according to the release. Several of those messages included sexual references, per the probable cause affidavit. Singh also said he was “going to marry” Cunningham and shared his phone number.

“The internet has made it easier than ever to target, harass and intimidate others. Threats of violence, whether face-to-face or behind a keyboard, will be taken seriously,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a statement. “Coming forward is never easy, regardless of a person’s position or public profile. The victim is setting an example by speaking out. No one should have to endure harassment, intimidation or threats of violence, and every person deserves to feel safe in their workplace and throughout our community.”

Singh was formally charged with stalking, intimidation and harassment. The stalking and intimidation charges are Level 6 felonies, and the harassment charge is a Class B misdemeanor. A Level 6 felony conviction can result in an imprisonment term between six months and 2 1/2 years, per Indiana law. It can also include a fine of up to $10,000. A Class B misdemeanor conviction can result in imprisonment for up to 180 days and a $1,000 fine.

The Athletic attempted to reach Singh for comment and will update this story if he responds.

Singh’s charges come just 11 months after a 55-year-old man pleaded guilty to stalking and harassing Fever star Caitlin Clark. Michael Lewis of Denton, Texas, was arrested after authorities alleged he had sent Clark hundreds of sexually explicit and violent messages via social media and traveled to Indianapolis to be closer to her. Lewis was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.

Earlier in June, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was “made aware of a possible pattern of stalking and intimidation” by Singh against Cunningham, per the probable cause affidavit. Singh’s concerning behavior dates back to at least September 2025, according to court documents, when Singh hand-delivered a letter and package to Cunningham at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the Fever play their home games. A letter was intercepted and investigated by Gainbridge Fieldhouse security along with a package, which included a Guns N’ Roses T-shirt that was sprayed with men’s cologne. The letter said, in part, “I hope you hit me up!”

Fever security sent Singh a cease-and-desist letter in April that banned him from Gainbridge Fieldhouse and any other Pacers Sports & Entertainment properties, per the probable cause affidavit. Singh then sent John Ball, vice president of security and event services for Pacers Sports & Entertainment, threatening messages via social media while continuing to message Cunningham.

Cunningham said she was made aware of Singh’s incessant social media posts in February, per court documents. One of those messages included Singh saying he was “literally down the street from” Cunningham. In another message, Singh insinuated that he could get into her residence. Cunningham became increasingly concerned about her well-being, per the probable cause affidavit, which stated that, “she has been staying in her home more, and she’s been having nightmares.”

The state has requested that Singh be issued a greater than standard bond, a GPS tracker upon his release and a stay-away order upon his release. The state also requested that Singh be held seven days without bond after he violated his probation. Singh was on probation after pleading guilty to two counts of invasion of privacy, both Level 6 felonies, in an unrelated case in Hendricks County (Ind.).

Cunningham is in her second season with the Fever. The 29-year-old was selected in the second round of the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury. She spent her first six seasons with the Mercury before joining the Fever.
