Who plays Karlos Dansby's position? How are you going to split playing time between Porter, Davis, Brown, Baggs, and now (apparently) Hughes?
I'm also not convinced that Joseph can play NT. I'm afraid that he'd be another Alan Branch.
Couldn't agree more. I've seen quite a bit of tape on this guy and I don't feel he has what it takes to be a NT. Though I do believe he has the makings of being one heck of a 3-4 DE.
Also, regarding OLB, don't forget about Mark Washington. From what has been said on local media, coaches are pretty high on this kid.
As far as the draft, I'm still sticking with my other mocks more or less. This is what I'd like to see:
#1 - NT Preferably would like to see
Dan Williams but will be just as fine with
Terrence Cody assuming both are there. We need a mauling NT to keep the interior offensive linemen off our ILB's, freeing them up to make plays. Remeber, a good NT will make our ILB's all the better.
#2 - ILB
A.J. Edds - Projected by most to remain as an OLB, as he was in Iowa. Has the athletic ability to play the ILB position in our 3-4. Plays with extreme football smarts. Good vision and play recognition skills, and will not be fooled easily. Plays the run hard nosed and is not scared of contact. Has good tackling technique and takes good angles to the ball carrier. Almost a natural in pass coverage. Not the biggest, strongest or fastest, won't wow anyone with his measurables, but will make up for it with his technique and instincts.
#3 -
CB/FS Akwasi Owusu-Ansah - A large CB/FS prospect. 6'2 205 pounds with a great work ethic. Played most of last year with a shoulder injury before going down and out in the season finale. Had surgery to repair shoulder. Naturally a gifted athlete. Can play press man, zone. Has experience at CB and at FS. Fluid hips and above average ball awareness. Despite his low tackle numbers, does play physical. His defensive scheme helped lead to his low totals. His defense simply does not allow opposing ball carriers to get into the secondary. Great work ethic and coachability. Distinguished KR/PR as well. Will need time to develop, as he played against small school talent, and will need to adjust to pro level competition. Would be a welcomed addition to our nickel and dime packages.
#3 -
QB John Skelton - May be a little high to take him, but may be hard to pass up, as he may not be around in the fourth. One of the guys reported on the radio the Cardinals are pretty high on this kid. His stock seems to be rising and picking him at the end of round 3 may be a pretty good pick, especially if we land someone like Anderson via FA. Will still allow Skelton to develop as the 3rd string.
#4 -
ILB Micah Johnson - Has elite physical tools. Size, strength, quickness, initial burst and good straight ahead speed. He knows how to keep blockers off his legs and is a sure tackler. Plays very aggressive and has good recognition skills. Will play too aggressive at times, taking himself out of the play. Does need to work on the mental aspects of the game. Could come with coaching.
#6 -
OL Chris Scott - Versatile mauling O-lineman in the mold that Grimm and Whis seem to like.
#7 -
WR Kelton Tindal - I'll give the OP this one. This is an intriguing prospect.
