This can't be happening. It just can't. Somewhere along the lines, the Philadelphia Eagles became a team in flux, and the New England Patriots became the AFC's champions yet again.
Football can be unfair sometimes. It's like we're trapped in some time warp of sorts. How many of you had the Patriots advancing to Super Bowl 60 at the beginning of the season? Yeah, right You're all fibbing.
That, however, is why we watch: the unpredictable nature of team sports. So, begrudgingly, we congratulate the former Eagles on both sides, New England's and the Seattle Seahawks'. They will meet to play in football's biggest game on the second Sunday in February.
Milton Williams, we salute you. Congratulations to Josh Jobe, Brady Russell, Christian Elliss, and Mack Hollins. Wait Mack Hollins? He's still playing.
There isn't much to talk about in terms of Mack Hollins' tenure in Philadelphia. Two seasons, 26 receptions, one TD catch. He wore many throwback jerseys when he came to Lincoln Financial Field for home games. He once said he didn't want to play on offense, only special teams. Yes, 'Throwback Mack' was quite the character.
He was a fourth-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. Most of the eight-man Eagles class he entered the league with is no longer playing. That includes Elijah Qualls, Nathan Gerry, Shelton Gibson, Donnel Pumphrey, and Philadelphia's second-round selection, Sidney Jones.
Derek Barnett and Rasul Douglas are still around. No one from that class is still in Philly, but let's be honest. Did you think the Mack Hollins we knew would still be around almost nine years later?
Since leaving the City of Brotherly Love, Hollins has enjoyed a journeyman career. The Patriots are his fifth landing spot since 2019, and he'll now play in his second Super Bowl, this time as a starter. He'll catch passes from a fellow North Carolina Tar Heel, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.
Maye is an MVP candidate in his second season. Four Eagles won their second Super Bowl ring last February: Lane Johnson, Brandon Graham, Jake Elliott, and Rick Lovato. Hollins wasn't here for that one, but, like Milton Williams, he has a chance to match his former teammates in terms of ring count.
Again, it was tough to see this coming. We can't promise we'll be pulling for the Patriots. As a matter of fact, we probably won't, but let Hollins serve as a lesson we've learned on more than one occasion. Never count guys out. You never know. That's one of the things we love about this game, its unpredictable nature.

Mack Hollins eyes a second Super Bowl, which would place him ahead of many of his former Eagles teammates.
