One of the biggest pairings to watch for the Chicago Bears in the 2026 season is quarterback Caleb Williams and second-year wide receiver Luther Burden III, who could make for an explosive duo on offense.
Williams will need another go-to primary option after the Bears traded veteran DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills this offseason, leaving Rome Odunze and Burden atop the depth chart, opening the door for opportunities for the younger playmakers.
For Burden, getting that opportunity will grow as he develops more chemistry with the third-year quarterback and team leader, understanding how they can bring out the most in one another. Recently, Burden discussed how he's already began to build his chemistry with Williams this offseason, looking to maximize any and all opportunities they have with one another.
"It was great,” Burden said. “Because we’re off for a certain amount of time and you want to get back on the same page as your quarterback and get that chemistry back up and where it was from the end of the season. So we’re just looking to continue to make that growth. I’m just locked in every single day. Come here, ready to work, ready to get better, ready to get coached up, ready to win games."
After showing elements of being a big-play threat in limited opportunities as a rookie, the extra work in the offseason, and the opportunity of climbing up the depth chart all fall in line for Burden to be a potential breakout star this season.
There are several young playmakers from Burden to Odunze, tight end Colston Loveland and rookie receiver Zavion Thomas that provide head coach Ben Johnson with plenty of different looks and schemes to keep the Bears offense humming moving forward.
