LSU women's basketball solidified one of its nonconference opponents for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Kim Mulkey will face off against Geno Auriemma when her team plays UConn on December 20 as part of the 2026 espnW Invitational.

The LSU vs. UConn game is half of the invitational field. Virginia vs. Kentucky is the other matchup. Both games will take place inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. Game times and networks have yet to be finalized.

The Tigers and Huskies last played each other in 2016 when the latter came way with a 76-53 victory. UConn leads the all-time series 8-1, which includes two postseason meetings. LSU's sole win over UConn came in the 2007 Elite Eight when former interim head coach and current associate head coach Bob Starkey led the Tigers to a 73-50 victory.

Mulkey and Auriemma are the sport's winningest active head coaches by percentage and hold the most national championships among active head coaches. The pair faced off multiple times when Mulkey held the reins at Baylor. She went 4-5 against UConn with the Bears.
