LSU baseball wins series opener at Tennessee

Tennessee (19-11, 3-7 SEC) opened a three-game series versus LSU (21-10, 5-5 SEC) on Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

LSU won Game 1, 7-5. 7,195 were in attendance, setting a Lindsey Nelson Stadium attendance record.

Landon Mack started for Tennessee and pitched seven innings and recorded 10 strikeouts and 94 pitches, including 62 strikes, against 25 batters. He allowed three hits (one home run), one run (one earned) and one walk.

Brandon Arvidson and Bo Rhudy combined to pitch 0.2 innings in relief. Arvidson allowed three earned runs, while Rhudy allowed two runs.

Chandler Day also pitched in relief for the Vols and allowed one earned run.

Tennessee's offense totaled nine hits, including one home run each from Reese Chapman, Levi Clark and Blake Grimmer.

Saturday’s Game 2 will take place at 6 p.m. EDT (ESPN2) and a series finale is scheduled for April 5 (1 p.m. EDT, SEC Network).
