LSU baseball has inked six transfers since the portal opened earlier this month. LSU's class is one of the best in the nation, with most of the additions ranking among the top 100 transfers.

But LSU may not be done. After LSU missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011, head coach Jay Johnson is determined not to let that happen again. LSU aims to be contending for a College World Series again in 2027.

Former Oregon outfielder Angel Laya is one of the top-ranked players left on the board. Per 64Analytics, he's actually the top-ranked player remaining, sitting No. 3 on the board. Could the outfielder be a fit for LSU?

Per On3's Pete Nakos, LSU is considered a school to watch in Laya's recruitment. As of Monday, Laya has been in the transfer portal for a week.

Laya is an alluring prospect. He was a freshman in 2026 and has two more years before he can enter the draft. Given that LSU has already signed four position players, I wouldn't expect LSU to add any more premium players with just one year of draft eligibility left. But adding Laya wouldn't just be about boosting the 2027 squad -- it would also position LSU for 2028. LSU needs players with multiple years of college left due to how many high school signees LSU lost to the MLB Draft last year.

NEW: Oregon OF Angel Laya has entered the NCAA transfer portal, @PeteNakos reports.

As a freshman at Oregon, Laya posted a .396 on-base with .538 slugging. He's a good athlete and strong defender, too. LSU already added two transfer portal outfielders, Bino Watters and Jason Wachs, but the addition of Laya would be a no-brainer.

As the top uncommitted player in the portal, Laya won't come cheap. LSU would have to fend off fellow top programs, but the Tigers have the resources to do it.
