The 2026 college baseball season didn’t go the way the LSU Tigers wanted.

For the first time in nine years, the Bayou Bengals failed to make the NCAA Tournament after finishing the regular season and SEC Tournament around .500 at 30-28.

However, after transfer portal acquisitions and summer baseball leagues across the country, the Purple and Gold look set for a stronger 2027.

That was evident in what Gavin Guidry did last night in the infamous Cape Cod Baseball League. The Lake Charles native and Barbe product produced a gem for the Chatham Anglers last night in a 4-2 victory. The junior pitched 5.2 innings of three-hit baseball, giving up just two runs and striking out 11.

Guidry missed all of the 2025 title campaign and most of the 2026 season with injury, so this is a big step in the right direction for the star pitcher.

He carries a career 10-3 record and 4.66 ERA with 137 strikeouts and 50 walks and 50 earned runs allowed.
