Meh... I know folks from Chicago and other deep-dish lovers place Malnatti's on a pedestal. However, as an Italian with firm roots back to the mother-land (just returned from a 2 week trip), I simply can't embrace this stuff they pass off as "pizza"...

You lucky bastards! Anytime I go to chicago I hit the LM. I much prefer their thin crust however. And the salads are great. Hope they keep coming west.
If by "thin crust" you mean a nice, thick, deep dish, Sicilian-type pizza, then yes, you are correct.Thin crust is where it's at with any pizza. Cut into squares of course.
When I ate there in Chicago I was not impressed… AT ALL
Ill take Geno's East over Lou ANYDAY!
Yum, Geno's is fab.

Dues is the best. Lou's is second, Geno's is third. Giordano's is awful.

Ragu with italian seasoning.
Chicago Deep Dish makes me sick. Too much cheese.
Coincidentally, "too much cheese" is not a phrase I ever believed in before I ate some Oreganos Chicago style deep dish.
