Ok, so in an attempt to talk about something positive in a season with very little be be proud of, I thought I'd take a look forward to 2017. Is it safe to say that we could have the best 1 - 4 in baseball?

1.) Segura
2.) Pollock
3.) Goldschmidt
4.) Lamb

Peralta & Castilllo/Hermann make for a pretty formidable duo somewhere in the 5 - 7 spots also.

If we can get this pitching staff together and maybe the progression of Bradley & Ray do just that, we could be pretty happy with the product on the field at this time a year from now.

All that means nothing if you can't pitch. Our starting rotation outside of Greinke is question marks, and this pen is a dumpster fire. Not sure if you can fix it all in one year.

We presently have one legit MLB pitcher on this entire team, and he's on the DL (Grienke). Nothing else matters...
That said, I do wonder if there is a better First Baseman/Third Baseman duo anywhere in the bigs??

Whoever they draft in the first round next year will be traded for garbage. I did not even care that there was a game today, I'm just pulling for the Cubs to finally win a title. I just hope we have an entire new front office before the winter meetings.

I would put Segura at SS and Drury at 2b and #5 hitter and we would have a great hitting infield and a solid 1-5. Drury is not an outfielder.

how is Drury at 2B? I know that's where he came up through the minors, but is he any good there? With a lineup

1.) Segura - ss
2.) Pollock - cf
3.) Goldschmidt - 1b
4.) Lamb - 3b
5.) Drury - 2b
6.) Tomas - rf (hate to say it but what can we do with him. Maybe with Pollock & Peralta back we can hide him in one of the corners)
7.) Castillo - c
8.) Peralta - lf

We could afford to have some sub par pitching

He played 2b and 3b in the minors. Then they bring him up and throw him in LF and RF never having played there. He does not have the skill set to play OF in the majors at this time. Put him at 2nd full time and you have 30 hr's there, Segura at SS and Lamb and Goldy at the corners. Pollock and Peralta in the OF and we have a lineup of ML hitters. Now, pitching...

Pitching wins games, look at the Doyers, they have a sub par offense yet their pitching is the reason they are like 10+ above .500

Agree. The 2017 line up looks stacked. Pitching is the issue. Miller needs to go now! Not saying he is done, but I think he is mentally done as a Dback. I just don't think he will ever be able to get over the mental struggles he is going through if he ever gets back on the mound in Chase field. Worst year of his career and I'm sure he would love to pack it up and never come back to Phoenix again! Bet he is wanting a fresh start with a new organization. Being a pitcher is such a mental game o_O

If the "you" means the former Manager and former Agent who now find themselves as Grand Wazool and General Manager, well, if they had brought the experience to fix it, they wouldn't have been the ones to get us into this mess. It is what it is!

Kendrick running the D-backs, Sarver running the Suns and Mercury. It is a damn shame what their leadership has come to and what they are doing to the fans of the Valley.

Rizzo & Bryant. Agree with your point on pitching staff. If we had big market money imagine if we could have landed Greinke, Cueto and Maeda and kept Blair, Swanson and Enciarte.

If Ray and Bradley can step up next season and be sub 4 ERA guys that would help this team out tremendously.

ARZ needs at least 2 more SP's who can keep there ERA under 4.00 and RELIABLE 7th, 8th and 9th inning RP's.

What also REALLY needs to happen is they need to draft and ACTUALLY DEVELOP their farm system as only Shipley ranks among baseball's Top 100 minor league prospects (#63). Numerous baseball executives in both the AL & NL have stated ARZ's system is more quantity over quality and even if ARZ wanted to make a move this year, they don't have the talent to acquire someone without including players on the MLB roster.
