we need a safety pretty badly...almost as bad as a backup corner. behind jackson and wilson - we have justin lucas..which is fine..but then we have harris and eason..I do not think eason has played in the NFL...at least at corner we have quantity (maybe not quality)..after starks and barrett we have rhinehart, hill and "why am I still on the roster" stone. Given our injury situation the past few seasons..I was hoping we would get more free agent type backups in here..We went out and obtained some good backups on the oline..I wish we would do this more on defense.

question: stone is listed as being an inch taller than barrett..hugh??

I am a little disappointed that we did not sign a veteran backup at safety and corner for depth...to my knowledge we only brought in mcbride..

I am sure we will address the depth during the draft - but we already have a few late round pick young guys in the dbackfield...a veteran would have been nice..although we still have june 1st cuts available..

S Terrance Holt from North Carolina State will still be on the board around 4th or 5th round. He will add depth and can play special team.

We're not going to be able to be deep at every roster position (No team is).

I also think Lucas (whom - if you check last years' performance - may have surprisingly made more game-winning plays than any other defensive player on the team) is a very good backup.

Harris looked pretty good in a backup role during camp, and I was really bummed out about our cutting Eason (whom I think has rare athleticism and a game-breaker mentality). I'm glad he's back.

Having said that - if Polamalu - who ran a 4.37 - somehow slipped to us at #37, I'd be extremely tempted to ignore our other needs and draft him - we could always consider moving Adrian W to corner if need be. Or just enjoy the depth and use Polamalu as backup S and nickel back.

I really liked Eason too. He has very good size for a corner and everytime I have watched him, he has played pretty well.

I don't think we should draft Polamalu. He would be a waste of a pick, since we already have 3 pretty good safeties and there will be players as good as him on the board at the time.
