The Arizona Diamondbacks wrap up a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves on April 27, with right-handed pitcher Brandon Pfaadt (4-1, 2.73) set to face the Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach (1-1, 2.56).

Pfaadt has arguably been the Diamondbacks' most effective starting pitcher so far in 2025, and it's hard to imagine that he was actually thought of as being in competition for a spot in the rotation during spring training.

Following an off day on April 28, the Diamondbacks head to the Eastern time zone for the third time this month to open a three-game series with one of the National League's top teams, the New York Mets. That series starts on April 29 with a pair of 4:10 p.m. (Phoenix time) starts on the 29th and 30th, then a 10:10 a.m. start at Citi Field on May 1.

From Queens, it's a quick dash to Philadelphia for a three-game series with the Phillies May 2-4. There's a chance that All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte will be ready to return to the Diamondbacks from the injured list during the road trip.

The Mets were the first team in Major League Baseball to reach 18 wins. They had a winning streak last week that reached seven games. Two of their stars (Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor) are off to hot starts with the bat, but huge free agent signing Juan Soto is still looking for offensive consistency.

On the pitching side, the Mets' starting rotation had all five pitchers with sub 3.30 earned run averages at one point last week, and the bullpen has been so effective that closer Edwin Diaz is its biggest question mark as far as consistency.

On April 23 Diaz asked to come out of the game in extra innings due to hip cramps, but he was feeling better the next day.

The Diamondbacks' scheduled pitchers against New York, in using their current rotation order, would be left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on April 29, right-hander Corbin Burnes on April 30 and right-hander Zac Gallen on May 1. Rodriguez allowed four earned runs on six hits over 6 ⅔ innings on April 23 against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Diamondbacks in April have already had a road trip to New York City, where they played the Yankees, and Washington D.C., then three games in Miami April 15-17. Now it's back East once again, but after the New York-Philadelphia trip, they will go a month without having to deal with a three-hour time difference.
