With the college baseball offseason now in full swing, the Texas Longhorns have been busy reshaping their roster. That continued on Wednesday, when Texas landed a commitment from former Long Beach State OF Trevor Goldenetz. The California native is coming off a promising 2026 campaign that was cut short due to injury.

During his freshman season, Goldenetz posted a .370 batting average in 108 at-bats. The newest Longhorn also made an impact with his legs, adding nine steals to his resume. While the sample size was small, the Huntington Beach High alum showed why he was a highly regarded prospect coming out of high school.

In his final season at Huntington Beach, Goldenetz posted a .409 batting average and stole 24 bases. Due to his play, he earned first-team All-State, first-team All-CIF SS, and first-team All-League honors. That came a year after the talented outfielder was named to the 2024 Orange County Register first-team All-Orange County Team.

As Goldenetz begins the next chapter of his career, he will not be the only new face on the Forty Acres. The Longhorns portal additions include Linkin Garcia, Sawyer Solitaria, and Ian Armstrong. That group will be tasked with helping the Longhorns make another deep playoff run.

I like the process here from Texas.

The Horns needed more OF depth, and after losing 3 CFs (Robbins, Pendergrass, Monsour) from the 2026 team, they needed a floor raiser at worst.

Now that Goldenetz is officially in the mix, the outfield picture is becoming clearer. Although Texas will be without Aiden Robbins who is expected to be selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, they have improved their depth and added players with high upside. The hope is that Goldenetz can replicate his success from last year while avoiding any major injuries.

While more additions could be on the horizon, Texas now has one less position to worry about.
