SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 26: Chendall Weaver #2 of the Texas Longhorns shoots the ball against the Purdue Boilermakers during the Sweet Sixteen round game of the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament held at SAP Center on March 26, 2026 in San Jose, California. Yahoo Sports reported earlier this week that former Texas basketball guard Chendall Weaver, who joined the Longhorns as a sophomore in 2023, is among a dozen plaintiffs to file a lawsuit against the NCAA. The lawsuit seeks a temporary injunction that would provide each player a fifth season of eligibility after college sports’ organizing body approved a new “five-for-five” initiative that extended the four seasons in five years rule.
Vanderbilt bball player Jalen Washington and 11 others are filing a lawsuit in Tennessee seeking additional eligibility related to NCAA’s new age-based policy.
Many believe programs are keeping open spots for them. The filing includes a supportive letter from the Duquesne AD. pic.twitter.com/8L7QJW7giP
