What should the expectations be for a team that has so many starters on IR? Not just the number of, but who they are. I'm pretty sure if the beloved Rams lost Goff, Gurley, Quinn, Whitworth, etc, etc. they would be very inconsistent and probably be 4-6 as well. Pick any team and take away like players. Same result.
I don't disagree that their Special teams and receivers are a problem. However BA didn't suddenly forget how to coach. Give him Palmer, Johnson, Golden, Humphries, and Iupati (run blocker) back and he'll be a freaking genius like he was in 2015.

I expect our defense, who has lost very little to IR, who has a decent roster - to play competitively and be the strength of this team.

I expect that the run play design be adapted to our weak oline and aging RB.

I expect some strategy in our ST coaching, versus the plain vanilla approach week after week.

Then I expect to see some competitive football, regardless of injury, like we did in 2014. What we are seeing this year is a coach who lost his fire (probably for health reasons), and that lack of fire shows in the intensity with which the team plays, then add the 3 mediocre (at best) coordinators who can't build upon the strengths of the roster.

I appreciate that you decided to post, but have you watched this team this year and last? Even before those injuries we sucked. And every team experiences injuries. Yeah we’ve got a lot. But we had a lot of older players and thus you have to factor in their likely injuries (DJ was admittedly a killer and unfortunate).

Golden is a big hit. Although the D is certainly flawed. If the Offense sustained drives, the D wouldn’t spend so much time on the field.
If Iupati and Humphries were healthy, the run game would look totally different.
Special teams...Agreed.
I’ll stand by my point that having 7 starters on IR would cripple any team!!

Ouchie...the NFL Ticket affords me the chance to watch every second of every game every year. I’m stating my case on the current season only.
Now Keims drafts the last few years? That’s another story

He had almost all of those guys last season PLUS Campbell, Jefferson, Swearinger and he didn’t look like a genius then either.

We have a lot of talent on the Defensive side of the ball, fewer injuries at least. But....

We shouldn't have decided to lose both Jefferson and Swearinger.
We shouldn't be continuing the story of playing Bucannon out of position, Reddick out of position, Mathieu without a position, etc...
We couldn't have forseen Calais having a career year, but still couldn't make sense of signing a long contract with him
We couldn't have forseen Golden going down for the year
We need to address CB2 big time, while we still have a good CB1.

Next year our holes should be filled pretty well to keep the D competitive just fine. It's the O that needs a total rebuild.

Palmer has been out for three games. We won one of them.

Humphries has been out for one game.

The offense is garbage, and the defense is at a structural disadvantage.
