The Southwestern Randolph [Asheboro] Cougars took game one yesterday.

Now the West Stanly [Oakboro] Colts will try to even the series.

The two teams are battling for North Carolina's NCHSAA Class 4A softball state championship, and Southwestern Randolph struck first in Game 1 of best-of-three series on Friday, winning 8-3 to seize momentum.

West Stanly will need to win Saturday afternoon to force a game three later in the evening.
