BLAKELY — As Enzo Nicastro stepped to the plate in the second inning, his teammates yelled a message to him.

“Take out your anger on the ball.”

Nicastro listened, ripping an RBI double to left center field for Carbino Club/Archbald’s first run.

He added two RBIs in an eight-run third inning, highlighted by Elio Brunori’s grand slam, as Carbino Club/Archbald rolled to an 11-0 victory in four innings over Green Ridge to capture the District 32 Majors Baseball championship Saturday at Blakely Borough Recreational Complex.

“Nobody works harder than us,” Carbino coach Randy Sashko said. “If they play to a standard and not a scoreboard and they just give us two hours of their best, we’re going to walk away with a W. They do that and they’re starting to trust it, they’re starting to believe in it, they’re starting to play as a team, which is scary. I feel like they’re just starting to click.”

Carbino advances to the Section 5 tournament, and will face the District 31 champion — either GPA or Back Mountain — on Saturday at 4 p.m. at a site to be announced.

Kody Malinowski led off the bottom of the second with a dribbler to third, beat the throw to first and advanced to second on an error.

Then, Nicastro lined the first pitch he saw to left center and scored Malinowski for a 1-0 lead.

Rocco Forgione followed with a walk, Brunori struck out and Chase Bauer hit a single to center to load the bases with one out. Jacob Luchansky was hit by pitch to score Nicastro, and after Maddox Sashko hit into a fielder’s choice, Kaden Pizzola worked a seven-pitch walk to score Bauer for a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third with one out and the bases loaded, Nicastro got a piece of a pitch on the outside corner for a single to center that scored Mason Buczynski and Bryce Warnetsky for a 5-0 lead. Nicastro finished the game 2 for 2 with three RBIs and two runs.

Randy Sashko also made sure to shout out Nicastro’s defense, as he made a nice catch on Christian Liuzzo’s liner to center that would have scored a run in the first inning.

“He is our leader in the outfield,” Coach Sashko said. “He is one of our rock-solid hitters in the middle of our lineup. If you need a guy to hit somebody in, you want Nicastro at the plate.”

Forgione followed Nicastro’s RBI single by working his second walk of the game to load the bases before Brunori put the game out of reach when he skied a shot to center to give Carbino a 9-0 advantage.

“I literally said to Rocco (Forgione) on first, I said Elio’s taking him yard right here. I’m calling it,” Randy Sashko said. “I’ve coached Elio for years and it’s been fun to watch him grow, very quickly by the way. He’s super talented, and he’s one of the easiest kids to coach and work with and he’s just awesome.”

Silas Wilson walked with the based loaded, and Talon Prutzman reached on an error on a grounder to second that scored Maddox Sashko to cap the eight-run inning and give Carbino an 11-0 lead.

Prutzman put the game away from there, as he got a groundout and struck out two in the top of the fourth to end the game. Prutzman allowed just two hits and one walk and struck out six in four innings.

“Gutty,” Randy Sashko said of Prutzman’s performance. “We knew that they were going to come in, they were going to try to rattle him. We knew the top of their lineup was very strong, that they were definitely going to put the bat on the ball. I told Talon he doesn’t have to be Superman. He’s just got to throw strikes, and he came in and you can see it. He’s starting to relax, have fun on the mound and play to his standard, and he threw strikes. Talon’s a talent.”

When the pressure increased Saturday, Prutzman simply got stronger. He allowed a baserunner in each inning, but quickly shut down the threat every time. Daniel Haggerty hit a one-out single in the first, but Prutzman got a groundout and a fly-out to end the inning. In the second, Logan Yeager hit a one-out single to center, but Prutzman struck out the next two batters to end the inning. He also ended the third and fourth innings by striking out the next two batters after one-out baserunners.

“The call to start him today came from how he responded to our last game against Green Ridge,” Randy Sashko said. “They overturned a call and he didn’t blink. He didn’t flinch, and then when we came in to hit, he was the emotional leader of our team, and that was it for me. I just knew. I’ve been talking to him about it the last couple days and I just made the call and I was right because if Talon’s on, you’re in for a long day.”

Buczynski had a double and a run, Malinowski had a hit and two runs and Bauer had a hit and a run for Carbino.

Haggerty and Yeager had Green Ridge’s only hits.
