The Detroit Lions are bringing back a familiar face. Detroit announced the signing of tight end Anthony Firkser on Friday.
Firkser, 31, first joined the Lions as a practice squad member in October of 2023. Firkser would be signed to the active roster in late December of 2023, appearing in two regular-season games and all three playoff games with the Lions.
After being waived following the 2023 campaign, Firkser was signed to the Lions' practice squad before signing a contract with the New York Jets in July of 2024.
The 6-foot-2, 241-pound tight end would make his way back to the Motor City last season when he was again signed to the Lions' practice squad in November. The Lions signed Firkser to the active roster on Nov. 26, 2025, and played in Detroit's final seven games last season.
Firkser logged 187 offensive snaps with the Lions in 2025, per Pro Football Focus. In his NFL career, Firkser has caught 123 passes for 1,260 yards and five touchdowns, including eight catches for 53 yards last season with the Lions.
Tight end Zach Horton was released in a corresponding move.
