The Detroit Lions were forced to make an injury-related roster move on Friday. Defensive lineman Pat O'Connor was placed on the injured reserve list with a knee injury.
It's a blow to the defensive line depth and also to special teams, where O'Connor has been one of the Lions' better performers in 2025. O'Connor missed the team's Week 10 win over Washington, and he must now remain on I.R. until at least Week 15.
The Lions haven't immediately filled O'Connor's spot on the active 53-man roster. With several defensive players currently designated to return from the I.R., it's expected that the role will be filled by one of the eligible returnees: LB Malcolm Rodriguez, DE Josh Paschal or DE Marcus Davenport. Of that group, Rodriguez appears the most likely candidate.
Detroit has until Monday to either activate Rodriguez or see his 21-day window close. If that happens, he will be out for the rest of the season.
