After a season-ending injury in 2024, Detroit Lions EDGE Aidan Hutchinson reminded everyone across the NFL that he's one of the league's most disruptive forces.

The 6-foot-7, 268-pound edge rusher racked up a career-high 14.5 sacks during the Lions' 2025 campaign. In the process, Hutchinson alleviated concerns that his fractured tibia and fibula injury in 2024 would alter the course of his career moving forward.

As Hutchinson was authoring another sensational season, the Lions got a four-year, $180 million contract extension ironed out with the Michigan product midway through last year in October.

In addition to his 14.5 sacks, Hutchinson registered 54 tackles, four forced fumbles, three passes defended and an interception. On the heels of another standout season, Hutchinson is ranked among the NFL's top five edge rushers as voted by league scouts, executives and coaches.

Per league scouts, executives and coaches, Hutchinson is the NFL's No. 5 edge rusher entering the 2026 season.

Hutchinson's unique skill set makes him a steady climber up the board, similar to Anderson. Last season, Hutchinson ranked second in pressures (63), third in quarterback hits (35), tied for second in forced fumbles (four) and fourth in sacks (14.5). It was a complete performance coming off a serious leg injury that cost him more than half of the 2024 campaign. His 950 snaps were first among defensive linemen.

"Skilled with his hands, very good speed-to-power rush to keep offensive tackles off balance and his superpower is his motor is nonstop," a veteran NFL defensive coach said.

Among the votes ESPN collected from league scouts, executives and coaches, Hutchinson was ranked as high as No. 2 and no lower than the league's eighth-best edge rusher. Hutchinson's No. 5 ranking also constitutes a two-spot jump from the No. 7 ranking he held at this time last year.

The four edge rushers ranked above Hutchinson were Los Angeles Rams EDGE Myles Garrett (No. 1), Green Bay Packers EDGE Micah Parsons (No. 2), Houston Texans EDGE Will Anderson Jr. (No. 3) and Las Vegas Raiders EDGE Maxx Crosby (No. 4).

Alongside Hutchinson and Green Bay's Parsons, Chicago Bears EDGE Montez Sweat, who had 10 sacks and three forced fumbles last season, was the only other edge rusher from the NFC North that received votes.
