Lindsey Vonn’s 2026 Winter Olympics campaign at Milan-Cortina did not go the way she had hoped after she suffered a fractured leg from a terrible crash in her downhill race.
She has now given a short message on social media for the first time since her accident took place.

Vonn replied to a social media post by British broadcaster Dan Walker, who praised the courage and determination showed by the three-time Olympic medalist.
“Thank you Dan,” Vonn wrote in response to Walker’s message.
The 41 year old Vonn was placed in a stretcher after her crash, and she was also airlifted from the course, as per nbc.com.
A statement was also provided on Sunday by the Italian hospital where the American skiing legend was receiving care.

“She “was treated by staff from the Regional Olympic Medical Service and immediately airlifted to the Codivilla Polyclinic, managed by the Local Health Authority,” the statement read, as per cbsnews.com.
“Diagnostic tests were performed and a decision was made to transfer her to Ca’ Foncello Hospital in Treviso. The American athlete was admitted to the hospital and taken care of by a multidisciplinary team. This afternoon, she underwent orthopedic surgery to stabilize the fracture in her left leg.”

Prior to the 2026 Winter Games, Vonn also crashed during a World Cup event and she endured a ruptured ACL as a result.
Despite the setback, Vonn still had the belief she could compete at the Winter Olympics where she reportedly wore a brace to help support her knee.
