Linda Head Attebery, the younger sister of legendary Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summitt, died March 21. She was 67.
Attebery died at Ahava Healthcare in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was the last surviving sibling of Summitt, preceded in death by Tommy Head, Charles Head, Kenneth Head and Summitt.
Graveside services will he held March 24 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Methodist Cemetery in Clarksville. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior.
"She was full of life, loved her Tennessee Lady Vols and her family and friends," Attebery's obituary said. "She passed away peacefully in her sleep and loved Henrietta where she lived out the rest of her life."
Attebery was born Dec. 27, 1958 in Clarksville to the late Richard and Hazel Albright Head. She worked at Sunshine Cleaners in Ashland City for many years.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Linda Head Attebery, the beloved sister of Pat Summitt," the Pat Summitt Foundation posted on March 22. "We hold her family and friends close in our thoughts and prayers as we honor her life and memory."
Attebery attended Lady Vols games over the years and was at Tennessee's alumni weekend during the 2024-25 season.
Summitt was the Lady Vols' coach for 38 seasons, amassing 1,098 career victories and coaching the Lady Vols to eight national championships. Summitt died on June 28, 2016, after a five-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Attebery is survived by her children, Lindsey and Casey, and her nine grandchildren.
