Liam Doyle left his start against Texas A&M with a blister on his left index finger.

Doyle threw six innings of Tennessee baseball's combined no-hitter against the Aggies in a seven-inning 10-0 win Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium before departing.

"Nothing to worry about," Doyle said. "I'll be ready for next week."

Vols coach Tony Vitello said it was the first time Doyle has had an issue with a blister. He made the decision to pull Doyle and not send him back out for the seventh inning.

“I could be extremely injured out there and I wouldn’t want to come out of the game," Doyle said. "Coach’s decision and I respect the coach’s decision. It is the right move there and let other guys throw, win the ballgame and do whatever it takes.”

Doyle is 5-1 with a 2.53 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 42⅔ innings in eight starts.

The Ole Miss transfer had an 0-2 count on Texas A&M star Jace LaViolette before throwing four straight balls and looking at the index finger on his pitching hand. Pitching coach Frank Anderson and trainer Jeff Wood came to the mound to check on Doyle after he walked LaViolette.

Doyle hit Wyatt Henseler with the next pitch and threw two balls to Caden Sorrell before getting a 4-6-3 double play to end the sixth.

He struck out eight and walked two in six innings. Dylan Loy finished the no-hitter by recording the final three outs.

It was Tennessee's second no-hitter this season. The Vols threw a combined no-hitter in a 12-0 win against St. Bonaventure on March 7, which was their first no-hitter since 2002 and the first combined no-hitter since 2000.

It is the second time UT threw multiple no-hitters in the same season. It had three in 1976.
