Germany announced itself to the world in a major way on Sunday by giving a nostalgic performance with a 7-1 scoreline over the island nation of Curaçao. While Germany were heavily favorited to win the match, not everyone could have foreseen a whopping seven goal performance. After the thrilling win for Germany, Sané gave Bild his thoughts of Germany’s performance.

“It was a great start, that was important for us. I think everyone saw we had a lot of fun up front. We played well and won big. I think that was the expectation. We met that expectation. It’s our first three points, that feels great,” as captured by @iMiaSanMia.

As great as Germany’s performance was, Sane was one attacker that didn’t manage to get a goal or assist in any of Germany’s 7 goals. It seems as though Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, and Kai Havertz are in form at the moment, but Leroy Sané appears to be struggling to make any meaningful contributions in the attack. Sané was asked by Bild if he is worried about his performance.

“I’m not stressing about that. When it happens, it happens. We scored a lot of goals, that’s what matters. For me, the most important thing is that we win, that’s the top priority. I hope the goal comes soon.” It is certainly a troubling sign when Sané seems several steps behind his fellow teammates, and while Nagelsmann does believe in the former Bayern Munich star, the leash will eventually start to shorten.
