I think if Len signs a multiyear contract with the Suns he will minimally get a contract in the range the Suns signed Alan Williams, 3 years, 17 million. Maybe more. It's better than a $4.2 million contract for one season unless Len is gambling on himself.

Maybe Len is looking for a sign and trade for more money.

I wouldn't want to invest much playing time in a player that only signs a qualifying offer.

There is a lot of strikes against Len right now...

1) He's not known for anything (defense, rebounding, scoring)

2) For a big he doesn't space the floor...his shooting range is awful. His game doesn't translate to todays NBA.

3) Money kind of dried up around the league this year because of last years spending spree.

4) There is competition in the market with other bigs looking for money.

I would guess that he is really exploring overseas options.

This, very likely. Barring some completely shocking leap forward this season, it should be apparent at this point that no one in the NBA thinks Len has much of a future in the league. So might just as well go back to Europe where he wil be close to home and family.

I'd think he'd want to stay here and make 4 mil and see if he can get another contract.

I've not given up on Len yet. I think he can be a solid rotation player. He needs to focus on defence and rebounding. The other stuff is going to be a bonus. The tools are there. His hands are not great but he has a decent shot and pretty good passing skills. But if he goes he goes.

The way Chriss looked this summer I sure hope Len stays.

I can see the reasoning but I think we should use Chriss as our backup Center, with Jackson and Warren playing our starting Forward spots. Let Bender or Chriss take the starting job from Chandler. Have our frontcourt off the bench be Bender, Chriss, and Williams with Ulis and Reed in the backcourt. Both Chriss and Bender have the size to play Center but they're also quick enough to play both forward spots, especially in our 2nd unit. Having Big Sauce will help us when our 2nd unit needs a rebounder and banger down low.

I'm not against Len returning but I think if he does come back we should move Chandler ASAP. Bledsoe's age isn't that far from our timeline, so keeping him around a little longer doesn't hurt us. We also don't have the personnel to fill in for Bledsoe if we traded him for picks, or didn't get a young PG in return. Chandler on the other hand is definitely on the downside of his career but he could help a contending team, like a San Antonio. Give his minutes to our youngsters.

Update on Len. ICYMI

Sometimes I wonder where you find this stuff.

I can only guess Len doesn't want to risk getting injured playing for the Ukraine national-team.

Yeah Len needs to save his stellar game...

Funny stuff. :p

Maybe he is using the Nerlens Noel strategy for a larger contract. One thing about it though, he has to have a great season.

Does some other team have a somewhat youthful big who is not living up to expectations - for whatever reason? We can't trade Len since he's an RFA but if he wanted to go to another team, which I imagine he does, we should be able to work a deal. Len has looked particularly crappy but a fresh start might be just what he needs to get his head on straight. I'd rather have a new pile of doo-doo than an old one...

I would guess that "big falling short of expectations" would describe about 75% of big men that get drafted. I don't think we need one, the unskilled big who is in the league for the sake of being big is something that is dying out in this league... and I'm all for it, it's always bothered me how often guys get playing time because of their measurements rather than their actual impact.

At this point I expect Len will sign the QO and we'll have him for one more year.
