More on LeBron James: Recent HoopsHype Rumors

Rich Paul on LeBron James: He's not chasing the ring. You know, you hear these things like, 'Why do we have to chase?' He's got four. There's nothing to chase. He's not chasing a ghost or anything like that. But when you've when you've worked this hard to position yourself the way you have and you can actually decide what you want to do, who wouldn't take advantage of that? — 7/11/2026 YouTube

Dru: “What I do believe, based on actual reporting is — Cleveland. Miami. Philly. [LeBron] is looking at Eastern Conference destinations with much more seriousness...He's apparently open to going very, very far away from where he's been for the last 8 years.” - @TheSteinLine — 7/11/2026 x.com

While attempting to temper Cavaliers fans' expectations during a radio hit in Cleveland, ESPN's Brian Windhorst said he "had somebody on the phone with me today that I consider a good source who was swearing it's a done deal in another city [outside of Cleveland] a couple hours ago." "And so, I am being very, very cautious. Right now, it's too scattered," Windhorst said. "I also know how LeBron has operated. They have kept their circle very tight. ... I'm hearing rumors all day long, and all of them make some level of sense, and all of them make some level of not sense. So I'm just telling you: Cleveland is not the only place where there are rumors." — 7/11/2026 The Philadelphia Inquirer

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst poured cold water Friday on speculation that James is attempting to recruit longtime Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green away from the franchise, saying he has not heard anything to substantiate the claim. “I have not heard that from a credible source,” Windhorst said Friday on ESPN Cleveland. “If you’re asking me whether that was something that could happen, that’s a different conversation. But I have not heard that from a credible source.” — 7/11/2026 Heavy.com

Dave McMenamin: "Nick Nurse is a guy with a championship medal, and that is something LeBron certainly respects. Obviously, Nick Nurse is a Klutch client and so that means there is familiarity (...) There is a strong relationship between Tyrese Maxey and LeBron James. There are few players I have seen that LeBron talks about as glowingly as a player but as a person as he does about Tyrese. I am not saying that Tyrese is Steph Curry, Steph is in a class all his own, but there is an appeal there." — 7/11/2026 YouTube

Jon Krawczynski on LeBron James' free agency: No update. Wolves still haven’t been told no. Nothing has changed since I last wrote about it. They believe they have a chance. We’ll see — 7/11/2026 x.com

Jonathan Gotschall, the former Caroline’s Cupcakes owner whose bakery drew national attention in 2014 for calling James’ return to Cleveland, is now floating another wild rumor. In a post from POKÉ Fresh Ohio, which he now owns, Gotschall claimed James is not only coming back to Cleveland but also bringing son Bronny James and Draymond Green with him. “Hey guys. I’ve got it on good authority that not only is LeBron coming back to Cleveland, but he’s bringing Bronny and Draymond with him!” Gotschall wrote. “If you don’t believe me, you can Google ‘Caroline’s Cupcakes + LeBron’ to check my credentials. This ain’t my first rodeo. IYKYK.” — 7/11/2026 New York Post

Derek Fisher: "I am surprised that a lot of people in LA didn't love LeBron's time here and that it has been confusing to me the reaction to him deciding not to return to LA. A lot of people have celebrated it and almost had a parade as though this is the greatest thing ever. I am not saying this is doomsday for the Lakers by any means. The organization will be fine. It has been here for 80 years. It will be fine. But I am surprised that some of the reaction for sure and yeah, I think people have moved on. A lot of fans have." — 7/11/2026 YouTube

Derek Fisher: "I think some of it, you think about the greats of Lakers past, many of those guys were kind of born and raised as Lakers for the most part. You think about James Worthy, number one draft pick. You think about Magic Johnson. Even though Kareem was traded to LA, he spent a considerable amount of time here in Los Angeles and really felt like a piece of the fabric of LA. And so many greats, even Shaq, eight years here. It is as though people forgot he played in Orlando as well. But it is the years here in LA that changed everything. Obviously Kobe being here for 20 seasons. And so I think other stars felt more like they became who they were as Lakers and I think a lot of Lakers fans had a difficult time receiving the fact that LeBron was already LeBron before he got here. He didn't owe Lakers fans anything. He was already LeBron. And I think fans had a hard time reconciling how to fully support a guy that didn't need support for anybody." — 7/11/2026 YouTube

A decade after Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors in an all-time "if you can't beat them, join them" move, LeBron James is contemplating a similar relocation. Andre Iguodala, the 2015 Finals MVP in the first of the Warriors' three titles over James' Cleveland Cavaliers, says that James' interest in Golden State is a testament to Stephen Curry. "As I've been saying since 2013, Steph Curry, no one understands how great he is," Iguodala told ESPN on Friday after the National Basketball Players Association's executive leadership transition news conference. — 7/10/2026 ESPN
