LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are now out of contention to win the NBA title, losing in the first round of the playoffs.
The Lakers fell 4-1 in the first round series, having lost 103-96 in Game 5.
Los Angeles' only victory in their first round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves came in Game 2, when they took down Minnesota 94-85 at home.
Aside from that, the Lakers have immensely struggled and one glaring statistic stood out in Game 5.
The Lakers were out-rebounded 54-37 in total boards and were out-glassed 18-8 on offensive rebounds.
When James spoke on the Lakers' struggles on the glass, he threw a subtle jab, bringing Anthony Davis into the equation.
"No comment," James said, per Jovan Buha. "My guy (Anthony Davis) said what he needed, and he was gone the following week."
Davis was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the trade deadline. Next to James, he served as the anchor of the Lakers' roster, known as one of the best big men in the NBA.
While he's clearly a talented player, the Lakers made the move to acquire Luka Doncic.
The acquisition of Doncic has mainly been viewed as a victory for the Lakers front office, but James seemed to think that Davis could have been of major use in Game 5.

James finished the game with 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Davis, on the other hand, had his year cut short in the regular season. The Dallas Mavericks missed the playoffs and Davis dealt with a nagging injury that kept him sidelined several weeks.
He may be gone from the Los Angeles Lakers organization, but as James alluded to, he was certainly missed in Game 5.

I asked LeBron if the Lakers’ center-less play style eventually caught up to them in this series. His response, in a joking tone: “No comment. … My guy (Anthony Davis) said what he needed, and he was gone the following week.”
