LeBron James has assembled a resume that stacks up nicely against that of any other player in NBA history. He has won four NBA regular season MVP awards, one scoring title and one assist title, and he holds the league record for the most All-Star nods with 21 of them.
Now that he's in his 22nd season, he has won just about all the individual honors he can possibly win. But now that he has Luka Doncic by his side, he has a golden opportunity to add what truly matters — another NBA championship.
He has won four championships so far, but he has also lost six times in the NBA Finals. During a recent episode of his "Mind the Game" podcast, he says postseason basketball is all he cares about at this point in his career.
James' Los Angeles Lakers lost their playoff opener on Saturday to the Minnesota Timberwolves by 22 points, which has set up a virtual must-win game for L.A. on Tuesday. A convincing win by the Lakers in Game 2 on Tuesday would likely send a message that they remain legitimate championship contenders and possibly set up a pathway for James to do his thing very deep into the postseason.

“Listen, at this point in my career, the regular season is fun and cool, but I only care about the playoffs. I’m all about the process and I will always be about the process to get to this point. But if you have a chance to win it and you know you have a team to have a chance, it doesn’t always result into winning it, but if you have a chance and you know you have a fighting chance of walking into this ring and say ‘We can beat anyone. We can beat anyone.’ We know we have to play close to perfect basketball, obviously we know that and it takes a lot of luck in the postseason, we understand that, but when it comes to playoff basketball, it’s definitely a drug. For sure.”
The stakes are high in the postseason.
