The Philadelphia 76ers got their major offseason started when they acquired former Boston Celtics NBA champion Jaylen Brown in a blockbuster trade. Bringing in Brown gave Philadelphia a legitimate opportunity to catch the attention of LeBron James.

James had the entire NBA world waiting for his decision for nearly a month. He eventually chose to join Philadelphia in what was considered a surprising move around the league.

“LeBron James is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers for his final run at another NBA championship, he announced Friday," ESPN's Dave McMenamin wrote. "James, 41, is signing a two-year, $8 million contract with a player option, Klutch Sports Group CEO Rich Paul told ESPN's Shams Charania."

Shortly after signing James, the 76ers were able to complete another major move by adding one of his former championship teammates, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

“Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has agreed to a buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies and plans to sign a one-year, $3.9 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers after clearing waivers, sources told ESPN. The Grizzlies and Caldwell-Pope's agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, finalized the buyout Saturday, allowing him to join Philadelphia and giving the Sixers a veteran wing shooter and defender just one day after the team signed LeBron James to shake up the Eastern Conference,” ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote.

The reunion between James and his former championship teammates may not be finished yet. NBA reporter Evan Sidery revealed that Kevin Love is interested in joining Philadelphia.

“Kevin Love wants to join the Sixers, which would reunite him with LeBron James before retirement, per mcten. Philadelphia must waive or trade a player, if they want to sign Love before the season begins,” Sidery wrote.

Adding James, Caldwell-Pope, and Love would give the four-time champion several familiar faces around him as he enters what could be the final stage of his career. Love may not be an everyday contributor at this point, but he would provide valuable veteran leadership and help guide a young roster.

Philadelphia has positioned itself as one of the teams capable of competing with the best in the NBA. The 76ers’ bench is filled with experienced players, which can be extremely valuable throughout a long season. If Love is able to join the roster, the team chemistry in Philadelphia could reach another level.
