The Minnesota Timberwolves entered their first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers as underdogs, but they emerged victorious in dominant fashion on Wednesday night, defeating the Lakers in five games to advance to the second round, while L.A.'s season came to an end.
The loss capped off LeBron James’ 22nd season in the NBA. At 40 years old, James didn’t provide a clear answer about his future plans. However, if he chooses to return for a 23rd season, he would set the record for the longest active career in NBA history.
After the game, mutual respect was on full display between James and Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. The two met at midcourt, where James had a clear five-word message for the 23-year-old rising superstar as he continues his postseason run.
"Make that next step now. Come on, "James said.
The video quickly went viral, surpassing one million views on X.
"Might look back at this as Bron passing the torch to Ant," a fan said.
"Gotta respect Ant-Man, Damn! LeBron loves this kid though, don’t get it twisted," another fan posted.
"That’s why LeBron is the greatest showing love for Edwards," someone else added.
One more fan commented, "LeBron always a great role model."

Anthony Edwards and LeBron James spent the summer together competing for Team USA at the Paris Olympics. In 2024, Edwards led the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals before being eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks.
Now, he’s back in the second round for the second consecutive season and will lead his team against the winner of the Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets series, with Golden State currently holding a 3-2 lead.
