This is a big year for linebacker Mack Wilson. He enters the final year of his three-year contract. He is coming off an injury that caused him to miss the final nine games.

But he wants to be a Cardinal. "It's been great. It's been fun," he said on Saturday at his charity basketball event. "Obviously, I feel like I'm just getting started. Lord's will, I'm here for the long haul."

He has evolved over the last year.

When Kyzir White wasn't brought back, he took over the green dot as the defensive leader, relaying the play calls from defensive coordinator Nick Rallis. He became a team captain.

He released a rap in 2025 to announce the Cardinals' schedule.

There is more. Darren Urban wrote this for AZCardinals.com.

When LaFleur was hired, the first person he heard from after getting the news from owner Michael Bidwill and GM Monti Ossenfort was Wilson.

"Hey coach," Wilson told him. "I'm your green dot."

When the rookies arrived for the first time in Tempe, there was Wilson, dapping up all from first-round pick Jeremiyah Love to the undrafted guys, telling them all, "Let's get it."

"I let guys know my phone is always open," Wilson said. "I've texted every rookie we have drafted since I got here. 'My time is going to end on this field and this will be y'all's building.' Whatever I can do to help them."

He certainly has endeared himself to the organization. There is one thing left to do if he wants to return on another contract — perform well on the field. He needs to stay healthy and play like a solid starting linebacker. If he does that, the Cardinals will certainly want him back.
