Congo striker Mahmoud Mayele is cementing his status as one of the top foreign players in the Egyptian Premier League, thanks to his consistent performances with Pyramids FC and exceptional goal-scoring instincts.
In light of his outstanding form, the Pyramids FC management has officially opened talks to extend his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the current season, fully recognizing his sporting value and influence within the squad.
According to African journalist Micky Junior, via his account on the "X" platform, Pyramids FC are on the verge of finalizing an agreement with Mayele to keep him at the club until 2028, with a salary increase as part of the new deal.
The Ghanaian journalist added that Mayele has delivered a phenomenal season, playing a direct role in the club's triumphs, including the CAF Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup against Al Ahly of Saudi Arabia.
An internal source at Al Ahly has also denied any negotiations with the "Fuhoud" striker.
The source told the Kooora website: "We have great respect for Mayele and his abilities, but at 31, he does not fit into our future plans. We have other options."
The source also clarified that Mayele's contract with Pyramids FC remains valid until the end of the current season and that rumors about Al Ahly's interest are unfounded.
