The latest Duke Chronicle profile is of Blue Devil sophomore Isaiah Evans.

As a freshman, Evans was a one-dimensional player, a three-point specialist. Basically, if his shot was on, he played, if not, he sat.

This year was quite different.

Evans is a great shooter, but he is a streaky shooter. This year, he went through some stretches where he didn’t really shoot well, but he still played. Why?

Because he improved so much in other aspects of the game.

Evans averaged 28.2 minutes per game this year, and that was because he elevated the rest of his game. His defense, a major weakness last season, was dramatically better.

Last year, his offense was almost entirely three-pointers. This season, he drove quite often, and got to the line frequently, where he cleaned up.

In short, Evans improved to the point where Jon Scheyer wanted him on the court, no matter what.
