The Baltimore Ravens do not need to pretend Stefon Diggs is a perfect player. They just need to decide if an established NFL wide receiver can help Lamar Jackson win. Diggs remains one of the biggest names available, and Baltimore is one of the most obvious fits. The Ravens have spent years trying to find the right receiver mix around Jackson. They have added young talent. They have changed pieces. They have talked themselves into depth.

But the same question always returns in January. Does Lamar have enough? Diggs would not answer every concern. He is 32; he has bounced around in recent years, and the drama around him is part of the reason he is still available. Any team signing him has to be comfortable with the attention that follows. And the Ravens should be. Need to be.

Baltimore shouldn’t have to ask Diggs to be the face of the offense. That is Jackson. It does not need him to be a 1,500-yard superstar. It needs him to win routes, move chains, and give Jackson another trusted target in the moments when playoff games tighten.

That is where Diggs still makes sense. Even if he is no longer at his peak, he remains a polished receiver who understands leverage, timing and space. Those skills matter in a Ravens offense that should not ask Jackson to be the entire passing game and the entire rushing threat every postseason.

There is a risk. There is also a risk in doing nothing. The AFC is too crowded for Baltimore to keep leaving offensive answers on the table. The Chiefs will adjust. The Bengals will be dangerous if healthy. The Bills are never easy. The Ravens cannot assume their current group is enough just because it looks good in the summer.

Diggs may be controversial. He may also be exactly the kind of uncomfortable move a contender has to make. The Ravens owe Jackson every possible chance to finish the job.
