Playing in its first TSSAA baseball state tournament, Lakeway Christian won the Division I-A title by beating St. George's.

The Lions needed three games to defeat St. George's, and in the final game of the series they emerged with a 6-1 victory at MTSU in Murfreesboro on May 21.

Starting pitcher Chase Gockenbach saved his best stuff for the final game. Through seven innings, he allowed five hits and struck out four batters, but only allowed one earned run.

On offense, six individual Lakeway batters registered a hits. Seniors Bryson Allen and Hudson Ford both hit doubles.

Lakeway's defense carried it to the state title. Outside the one loss to St. George's, the Lions allowed a total of six runs in their three state tournament wins.
