For the Los Angeles Lakers, the real season begins on Saturday as they face the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

They have established themselves as legitimate championship contenders after some stretches of outstanding play following their major trade for Luka Doncic. Doncic has reconfigured things in a huge way for Los Angeles, and his arrival has made life easier on LeBron James and Austin Reaves in particular.

L.A. will have to corral Anthony Edwards, Minnesota's explosive superstar guard, as well as find a way to limit Minnesota's offensive rebounds and second-chance opportunities. If it does those two things, it should do relatively well in this game and in the series as a whole.
