The NBA champion New York Knicks have a few rotation players who are about to become free agents, including backup center Robinson. Owner James Dolan has stated that he wants to keep costs down, and as a result, Robinson is reportedly considered unlikely to remain in New York.

The Los Angeles Lakers need help at the center position, and they have been thought to have Robinson on their list of targets. According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, Los Angeles is still considered a suitor for the big man.

"The Lakers, amid a growing pessimism that the Knicks will be able to hang onto Robinson, are also regarded as a likely suitor for the New York big man once free agency officially begins."

In addition, a source told Knicks X Factor that Los Angeles will make Robinson a hearty offer.

“It’s the Lakers,” one source said when asked about Robinson’s market. “They’re going to offer more than Dolan is willing to pay, and the starting job.”

Another source gave more specifics on the offer the Lakers will give Robinson.

"Los Angeles is prepared to offer the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception for the ninth-year big man, a separate source confirmed, roughly $15 million annually," Collin Loring wrote.

"Based on that figure, the Lakers could offer a maximum, four-year, $64-million deal."

Robinson, who stands seven feet tall and weighs 240 pounds, averaged 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 19.6 minutes a game during the regular season while backing up All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns. While he has a history of being injury-prone, he did appear in a respectable 60 regular-season games and in 18 of the Knicks' 19 playoff contests this year.
