I really don't know what to make of the Los Angeles Lakers' plans over the next few weeks ahead of opening night.

For a team that is decent, but probably not good enough to win a championship at the moment, there's absolutely no debate that they need to do more. The only question for the Lakers is whether they're actually even looking to get better.

While the Lakers seem pretty set roster-wise considering how many players are on the roster, and in fact actually have to move on from somebody, it makes things even more interesting after the latest report.

The report stated that the Lakers had interest in acquiring Lu Dort from the Oklahoma City Thunder before he was sent to the Atlanta Hawks.

“Several teams expressed trade interest in acquiring Dort before he was traded to Atlanta, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, and Miami Heat, league sources told HoopsHype,” Michael Scotto wrote.

Dort would actually be a great player to add to the Lakers because of their need on the defensive side of the basketball.

I have questions about what his offensive game looks like, as there really isn't much there beyond some catch-and-shoot threes. However, next to Luka Dončić, I feel like anybody can be decent offensively, so I would have traded for him if the Lakers had a real opportunity to do so.
