The Los Angeles Lakers are not necessarily done making moves this summer. They still need a backup center who can play up to 15 minutes a game, and they especially need a starting-level two-way forward or wing who has ample athleticism.
They have a few contracts they could trade in order to acquire a player they need or clear salary cap space to sign such a player in free agency. According to reporter Evan Sidery, the Lakers are shopping forward Jarred Vanderbilt and wing Dalton Knecht in order to obtain a starting-level wing.
A couple of days ago, the Lakers agreed to send Ayton, who was their starting center this past season, to the Washington Wizards for two second-round draft picks and guard Jaden Hardy. Hardy may not play any meaningful minutes for Los Angeles during the upcoming season, and he may be seen as purely a trade asset at this point.
The team will now have three second-round picks. Vanderbilt is seen as a negative contract around the NBA, as he'll be paid $12.4 million this coming season and is a versatile defender and a capable rebounder but is extremely limited offensively. Knecht, the No. 17 pick in the draft two years ago, hasn't panned out or gotten consistent playing time with the Lakers, but perhaps he can still become a serviceable player on another team.
The Lakers are reportedly considering two main players to plug their hole at the forward position: Rui Hachimura, who spent the last three and a half seasons with them and has been an outstanding 3-point shooter, and Jonathan Kuminga, who has excellent potential but hasn't put it all together.

"The Lakers are actively shopping Dalton Knecht and Jarred Vanderbilt in trade talks," Sidery wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"After gaining two second-round picks in the Deandre Ayton trade, Los Angeles could consolidate those assets in a deal immediately for a starting-caliber wing."
